What can be customized with a UV printer?
A UV printer prints directly onto the part, and the ink cures instantly with a UV LED lamp. That is why it is used to customize promotional items and rigid or flexible products without transfer: the part is placed on the bed and comes out printed and ready for handling.
Colors and effects: PRIME flatbed UV printers print in CMYK plus white, with optional varnish. White enables printing on dark or clear substrates, and varnish creates an eye-catching finish.
Bed size: determines how many giveaways fit per print run. The UV FB PRIME 6090 has a 60 × 90 cm area and accommodates objects up to 20 cm in height, featuring up to 3 Epson i1600 printheads and speeds up to 8 m²/h in 6 passes. The PRIME 1610 features a 1.60 × 1.00 m bed with the same printhead and height configuration. The PRIME 2513 models offer a 2.50 × 1.30 m bed, hold up to 100 kg of material, and are available with Epson or Ricoh Gen6 printheads for higher volumes.
What about UV DTF? It's another way to customize with UV: the printer creates a transfer sticker that is applied to the item without a heat press. It is useful for curved objects or items that don't fit on the flatbed. TEKNOVA offers the UV DTF PRIME 30X i1600.
Practical summary: to start with small and medium promotional items, the 6090; for more pieces per print run or boards, the 1610; for high-volume production and large sheets, the 2513. Before purchasing, validate ink adhesion on your promotional product's material with the technical team.
